We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Reliability Engineer to join our team at ING Bank N.V. This is a key hands-on, multi-skilled role responsible for ensuring the resilience and reliability of our customer-facing systems with a specific focus on databases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in designing complex and innovative engineering solutions to enable problem-solving and design brief realization.
  • Discuss and recommend technical developments to improve workload quality and supporting infrastructure.
  • Enhance existing and develop new workloads by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
  • Identify new external developments and emerging issues within an area of technology or business function and evaluate their potential impact.
  • Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience with databases, mandatory Microsoft SQL and ideally Postgres.
  • Experience with automation, capacity management, and performance management practices in the context of database systems.
  • Experience with database migration strategies and migrating complex database solutions to the public cloud.
  • Ideal knowledge of Event Driven Architectures leveraging Kafka Event Bus and Debezium / CDC.
  • Proven track record of curiosity, problem-solving, adaptability, and excellent communication skills.
