About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the Department of Fire and Emergency Services as a Senior Policy and Legislation Officer and Senior Legislation Officer.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and drafting proposed legislation and policy positions, working closely with stakeholders to ensure effective emergency services management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and drafting proposed legislation and policy positions
  • Conducting research into complex legal issues
  • Preparing detailed submissions, reports, and recommendations
  • Providing instruction during the drafting of changes to legislation
  • Coordinating consultation and engagement with stakeholders

This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

DFES is an emergency services organisation and all employees may be required to work or travel outside of normal business hours to assist with emergencies.

Certain periods of the project will require work outside of normal business hours.

Employees in this position may be required to undertake occasional intrastate travel to support consultation activities.
