At Energy Australia, we're committed to leading the clean energy transformation for all. Our purpose is to accelerate the transition to a net zero future, and our team is dedicated to delivering on this goal.

The Hallett Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project is a key part of our strategy. This grid-scale battery will be developed alongside our gas-fired power station in Canowie, 210km north of Adelaide, and will have the capacity to power up to 81,000 homes for four hours, with plans to triple its capacity in a future second stage.

We're seeking an experienced Project Director to lead this project from pre-FID to delivery. As the successful candidate, you'll be accountable for ensuring excellence in planning, costing, scheduling, and governance, with a focus on health, safety, and quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and leading the project team to build capability for successful execution
  • Establishing key contractor relationships and understanding contractual agreements
  • Representing the project to internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, regulators, government, community, and media
  • Continually monitoring and managing project risks, taking mitigative actions, and reporting to the Project Steering Committee

This role requires a strong EPCM-style Project Director with experience in engineering and construction project development and delivery in the energy sector or a related heavy industrial field. You'll bring a genuine passion for contributing to the clean energy transition and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in safety, environmental, and quality standards.

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, combined with additional qualifications in Project Management or business, is essential. Your commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills will be critical in this role, as well as your ability to travel to site regularly and to our Melbourne HQ as required.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
