As a Youth Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting positive outcomes across our district by identifying and delivering opportunities that empower young people to thrive.

Job Overview

This position involves developing and implementing programs aligned with strategic priorities such as connection, wellbeing, and influencing decision-making processes. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand community needs and deliver initiatives that make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

  • Contribute to the development of comprehensive plans and initiatives that promote youth engagement and empowerment.
  • Deliver impactful programs informed through genuine consultation with young people and external service providers.

About the Role

To succeed in this position, you will have:

  • Demonstrated expertise in working with diverse groups of young people and knowledge of current trends and issues impacting this age group.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and policies related to youth development.
  • Experience facilitating groups and workshops, with a focus on building positive relationships with young people.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to engage stakeholders and build collaborative partnerships.
  • Relevant qualifications in social sciences, community development, or a related field are desirable.

The successful candidate will be required to hold a valid Working with Children Check, complete Child Safe Environment Training every three years, and undergo a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check satisfactory to our requirements.

  • Knowledge of external services and programs relevant to young people.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and policies.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
  • Desirable: Qualifications in social sciences, community development, or a related discipline.
