Lead Educator Special Needs

The role of Lead Educator Special Needs is a challenging and rewarding teaching leadership position that requires strong educational leadership skills, knowledge of curriculum and assessment, and the ability to lead and design quality teaching and learning programs.

Mulwaree High School serves a diverse community with approximately 9% of students identifying as Aboriginal and 6% from non-English-speaking backgrounds.

The successful applicant will have experience in teaching students with Autism and other complex learning and support needs. They will also have proven ability to lead faculty differentiation of the curriculum, promoting engagement and learning through personalised learning and support plans.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Designing and leading quality teaching and learning programs for students with special education needs
  • Developing strategies to improve student outcomes and achievement
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents and the wider school community to support students' academic and personal growth
  • Building relationships and engaging with students, staff and parents to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment

Key requirements include:

  • Approval to teach special education and experience in teaching students with Autism and other complex learning and support needs
  • Ability to lead faculty differentiation of the curriculum
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively to support teaching and learning
