The Role

As a Client Group Director, you will be the key point of contact for our clients and will develop strong communication recommendations across all channels. You will drive and lead a successful client relationship and a results-driven team.

Your Responsibilities
  • You will communicate openly with all internal stakeholders and reports regularly, ensuring alignment and clear understanding of client priorities.
  • You will hold regular performance evaluation meetings with reports throughout the year, setting SMART KPIs and creating a clear career development plan.
  • You will review your team's training needs and ensure their career plans align with their progression, taking responsibility for their development and growth.
  • You will oversee workflow between team members and escalate any issues, ensuring efficient delivery of results.
  • You will have expert knowledge and understanding of the agency structure, knowing when to tap into resources to enhance work.
  • You will own the team's WIP and stay up-to-date on current campaigns and future plans.
  • You will direct the team's workload and prioritization to produce the best results for clients.
Clients
  • You will establish a deep understanding of client challenges, objectives, and initiatives, building on the agency's reputation for outstanding client service.
  • You will build strong and enduring client relationships at a senior level, providing innovative strategic insights by acting as an expert on the client's business, industry, and competitors.
  • You will seek out reformist ways to keep clients informed on relevant developments and changes to the media landscape, while also keeping media partners informed on client priorities and partnership opportunities.
  • You will work closely with clients and agency partners to provide best-case outcomes using the agency's resources effectively.
  • You will use language that aligns with the client's business and understanding to ensure comprehension of solutions across the business.
  • You will collaborate with clients to support their requests to Wavemaker and manage the process and timelines.
  • You will have a clear understanding of in-scope services and processes for completing work above and beyond.
  • You will maintain a full view of the process of how clients work to get projects signed off and what is required.
  • You will be the first point of contact for clients' marketing and business challenges.
  • You will own all communication with clients, actively seeking out misunderstandings or miscommunication.
Product
  • You will engage with internal product teams, including GroupM proprietary product and service teams, to ensure an understanding of their offerings and relevance to clients.
  • You will demonstrate an obsession for Provocative Planning and its benefits for clients.
  • You will have a full understanding and comprehension of client briefs and the ability to discuss them internally with the broader client team.
  • You will leverage industry and agency tools to aid planning, including target audience, brand, growth priorities, insights, role of channel, and channel priorities.
  • You will be confident in your knowledge of media planning principles, including scheduling, flighting, recency, effective reach theories, seasonality, market prioritization, roles of all communication channels.
  • You will always seek to raise the benchmark for quality of products going to clients.
  • You will bring innovation and creativity to the table, leveraging insights from across the market.
  • You will seek to find, communicate, and implement improvements in all aspects of the role.
  • You will deliver a well-informed POV in every meeting, providing innovative strategic insights by acting as an expert in your craft.
Growth & Marketing
  • You will be a Wavemaker spokesperson on industry subjects, with a strong, high-profile, and positive reputation and personality in the market.
  • You will collaborate closely with your Manager to identify, collate, and showcase examples of great work from within the team, both internally and externally.
  • You will build the agency's reputation by contributing to entries for awards and competitions.
  • You will contribute to thought leadership across the agency's owned assets (website, social, EDMs, etc.).
  • You will share relevant and insightful commentary internally, for the broader agency.
  • You will develop a market-leading profile via strong relationships internally and externally.

  • You will have strong, up-to-date media landscape knowledge, confidently able to articulate macroeconomic and consumer trends and forecast challenges/opportunities for clients.

  • You will be collaborative and astute, able to build trust and respect within a network.
  • You will be results-driven, passionate about delivering business results for clients, with the ability to identify and clearly articulate what's working and why.
