Job Description

As a bereavement counsellor, you will provide emotional support and guidance to children and young people who have experienced trauma due to suicide.

You will work with families and communities affected by suicide, providing individual counselling and facilitating support groups and workshops. Your role will also involve collaborating with the CYPRESS team to increase awareness about the impact of suicide in the community.

  • Provide trauma-informed counselling services to children and young people affected by suicide
  • Facilitate support groups and workshops for children, young people, and families affected by suicide
  • Collaborate with the CYPRESS team to contribute to community education and awareness initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement trauma-informed counselling programs for children and young people
  2. Facilitate support groups and workshops to promote healing and recovery among affected individuals
  3. Work collaboratively with the CYPRESS team to design and deliver community-based programs
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Tertiary degree in counselling, psychology, or a related field; eligible for professional association membership
  • Substantial experience in counselling children, young people, and families affected by trauma or suicide
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
