Conservation Leadership Role

We are seeking a skilled leader to coordinate conservation efforts across Melbourne's urban landscapes.

This is a senior leadership role in the Parks and Natural Environment team, responsible for delivering strategies that conserve biodiversity and enhance natural areas.

  • Lead high-quality conservation services ensuring biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, and compliance with legislation.
  • Provide strategic and people leadership for the Conservation Team, supporting colleagues to achieve safe, effective, and sustainable outcomes.
  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders to enhance the natural environment and engage the community.
  • Manage budgets, contracts, and reporting to ensure compliance and strong outcomes.
Key Qualifications
  • Demonstrate a wide understanding of urban biodiversity conservation and rehabilitation projects.
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field or extensive experience in conservation management.
  • Experience working in a political environment and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly developed verbal and written skills including experience in writing reports and technical documents.
  • Ability to carry out effective planning and project delivery.
