Job Title

Conservation Leadership Role Available

The Australian Wildlife Conservancy seeks a seasoned leader to drive conservation outcomes through effective partnership management and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate strategic planning meetings with Traditional Owners to ensure aligned work plans and successful implementation.
  • Establish and manage an Indigenous ranger team, ensuring the program adheres to AWC's operational standards.
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders and drive impactful conservation outcomes through metrics such as indicator species populations, reduction in un-prescribed fires, control of feral animals and invasive weeds.
  • Efficiently manage resources according to approved plans, ensuring seamless integration between operations and science teams.
  • Engage with stakeholders, participate in events, and advocate for AWC's conservation model and achievements.
Requirements:
  • Formal qualifications in a relevant field are advantageous, but strong practical experience and a proven track record in land management on-ground results are highly valued.
  • Licenses and certifications: valid manual driver's license with 4WD experience (essential); senior first aid certificate (remote certification) – highly desirable; agricultural machinery licenses (desirable); firearms license (highly desirable); chemical use certification; National Police Check (or equivalent).
  • Ability to supervise teams in geographically diverse locations and live and work in rural or remote areas.
  • Proficiency in standard business software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and cloud services.
  • Willingness to travel as needed and passion for conservation.
