Job Title: Recovery Support Specialist
OverviewPurpose of the Position:
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Recovery Support Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for supporting individuals in their recovery journey and possess excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Provide consumer-driven services, including support with daily living tasks and connecting consumers to community resources.
- Model traits such as personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness, serving as a positive influence on those we serve.
- Refer and link consumers to local resources and services that align with their needs and goals.
- Attend meetings and consumer staffings to ensure comprehensive understanding of individual needs and develop effective plans for support.
- Collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and facility staff to maintain a safe and sanitary environment, promoting overall well-being of residents.
- Respond to phone calls, messages, and mail, and monitor video surveillance equipment when applicable.
- Promote the recovery model of treatment, emphasizing trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, and spirituality/connectedness.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, applicants must possess:
A bachelor's degree and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) certification or Certified Reciprocal Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor (CRADC) certification in good standing with the State of Illinois; or a bachelor's degree with five years' experience in mental health, substance use, or other social services, with the ability to obtain CADC within two years of hire; or a combination of college and relevant work experience.
Preferred qualifications include crisis intervention or co-occurring experience/training, valid driver's license, private automobile insurance, and insurability.
Basic computer skills, including MS Word, email, and electronic medical records (EMR), are also essential for success in this position.
