Family Safety Advocate Role

This is a part-time position based in Cannington that requires flexibility to work across the Perth South East region in an outreach capacity.

About the Job

The Family Safety Advocate will strengthen Bridge to Belonging's capacity to support migrant and refugee women experiencing or at risk of experiencing family and domestic violence.

Through a trauma-informed approach, the advocate will work alongside women to empower them to make choices that improve their safety.

This includes identifying, assessing, and responding to safety issues as they relate to women and children experiencing family and domestic violence.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Undertake risk assessments and safety planning to ensure the safety of women and children.
  2. Provide specialist assessment, support plans, telephone intervention, in-person support, information, and referral for women experiencing or at risk of experiencing family and domestic violence.
  3. Advocate for clients experiencing family and domestic violence based on client-defined goals and with the consent of the client.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in the human services field and/or significant experience in the family and domestic violence sector.
  • Unrestricted drivers' license.
  • Satisfactory National Police Clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date).
  • Current Working with Children Check card.
  • Previous experience working in a similar role, preferably within settlement services and/or with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse target groups.
