Our team based at Portsmith depot in Cairns plays a crucial role in maintaining the heritage-listed Kuranda Scenic Railway. This unique opportunity allows you to travel along the scenic route from Normanton to Cardwell, contributing to the reliable and timely performance of our rail services.

About the Role

This is a varied position where no two days are the same. As a Field Communications Engineer, you will install, maintain and repair telecommunications and electronic equipment for our rail network.

You will be responsible for:

  • Installing and maintaining telecommunication and electronic equipment
  • Maintaining records and associated documentation
  • Reporting on actual work performed against the scheduled maintenance program
  • Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements
  • Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with technical and operational specifications

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Sound skills in the installation, maintenance and fault rectification of telecommunications equipment and systems
  • A valid driver's license
  • An Electronics Trade Certificate (or similar qualifications)
  • The ability to travel and work within regional Queensland
  • The flexibility to work some overtime and weekends when required
