Job Overview

The Extension Support Specialist will be an integral part of the Biosecurity and Extension team, providing comprehensive logistical and administrative support to various projects.

This diverse role is critical in enabling the team to deliver strong outcomes for their project and the vegetable, potato and onion industries. The successful candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, have well-developed writing and basic design skills, and a base level knowledge of agriculture which is not mandatory but preferred.

The role involves providing support to all aspects of the work of the Biosecurity and Extension function, organizing logistics for extension activities, designing and printing relevant extension material, conducting research on various subjects, collating data and reporting.

Main Duties / Responsibilities
  • Planning and organizing logistics of workshops, field days, extension activities etc.
  • Logistics and planning support for demonstration sites
  • Designing and printing of relevant extension material.
  • Organizing and managing the library of creative and extension material
  • Completion of reporting requirements of projects.
  • Conducting research on various topics relevant to the Biosecurity and Extension work.
  • Data collation and reporting
  • Scheduling growers and stakeholder meetings and facilitating communication between relevant stakeholders.
  • Being a point of contact for various work streams.
  • Communicating with staff, managers in the Leadership Team, or others by providing information to co-workers, and others by telephone, in written form, email, or in person.
  • Providing administrative support to the team in project group meetings and/or as required.
  • Providing support to other project managers and business leaders when requested.
Required Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in commerce, project management or agricultural discipline.

Experience: Recent graduate in an agriculture discipline or 1-2 years experience in a support role, agriculture preferred.

Skills:

  • Exceptional administrative management skills and highly tuned attention to detail, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • A team-orientation, and willingness to support the team.
  • A capacity to manage multiple priorities at any one time in an environment with constant change.
  • Have very strong oral and written communication, with active listening skills.
  • Basic design skills and Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines
  • Some travel required for delivery of extension activities.
