Academic Support Specialist for Indigenous Students

The University of Canberra is committed to supporting the academic success and well-being of its Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. As an Academic Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing knowledge and culturally safe academic support and skills development for these students.
Working under general direction and reporting to the Ngunnawal Centre Manager, you will use your specialist knowledge in your discipline area to engage 1:1 with Indigenous students to develop tutoring plans and increase their learning capacity and engagement with their studies. You will be committed to empowering our students academically, professionally, and personally.
To be successful in this role, you will require a Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) check, demonstrated discipline expertise, and an understanding of how relevant subjects are taught at the University of Canberra. Additionally, you will need to have an awareness and respect of cultural sensitivities to ensure the best support for the student's success.
We offer a competitive salary of $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development.
