About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HSE Advisor to join our team at Johns Lyng Group. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in implementing our health and safety strategy across our QLD & NT network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive and lead a strong safety culture, influencing safe outcomes and reducing risks through a focus on high-risk work activities and safety compliance.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and coaching to ensure our minimum standards are met at all times.
  • Keep up-to-date with HSE compliance in relevant state and national legislation, and hold relevant knowledge on safety compliance.
  • Implement, maintain, and update project-specific HSE plans and SWMS for high-risk projects and tasks in line with legislation.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities on matters of HSE regulation and compliance.
  • Manage HSE inductions and onboarding processes for new internal staff, including HSE communications and toolbox talks.
  • Provide advice on HSE matters and issues that arise, in line with our company framework and safety management system.
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies, including investigations, reporting, and escalation.
  • Monitor safety compliance through efficient safety systems and technology, with a focus on lead and lag indicators, leading to monthly reporting for businesses under your remit.
Requirements
  • Qualification in Work Health & Safety, essential (minimum Certificate IV in H&S).
  • Previous experience in the Building & Construction industry.
  • Competent use of technology and safety systems/technology.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Results-driven and adaptable.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple/competing priorities and make quick decisions.
  • Problem-solving and process implementation skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, laws, and regulations.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally and interstate as required.
  • Construction White Card.
  • Working with Children Check (preferred or to undertake during employment).
