About the Role:

The Johns Lyng Group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our team in Queensland and Northern Territory. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for implementing our health and safety strategy across our network, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our staff and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drive and lead a strong safety culture, promoting a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization.
  2. Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  3. Develop and implement project-specific HSE plans and SWMS, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  4. Liaise with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to ensure compliance with HSE regulations and standards.
  5. Provide HSE training and support to staff and subcontractors, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely.
  6. Investigate incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  7. Monitor and report on safety performance, using data and metrics to inform decision-making and drive improvement.
  8. Collaborate with other departments to ensure HSE considerations are integrated into business operations and decision-making.
  9. Stay up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and regulatory changes, applying this knowledge to improve our HSE performance.

Requirements:

  • Qualification in Work Health and Safety (minimum Certificate IV in H&S).
  • Previous experience in the building and construction industry, with a strong understanding of HSE principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally and interstate as required.
  • Construction White Card and Working with Children Check (preferred).
