About the Role:
The Johns Lyng Group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our team in Queensland and Northern Territory. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for implementing our health and safety strategy across our network, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our staff and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive and lead a strong safety culture, promoting a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Develop and implement project-specific HSE plans and SWMS, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to ensure compliance with HSE regulations and standards.
- Provide HSE training and support to staff and subcontractors, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Monitor and report on safety performance, using data and metrics to inform decision-making and drive improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure HSE considerations are integrated into business operations and decision-making.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and regulatory changes, applying this knowledge to improve our HSE performance.
Requirements:
- Qualification in Work Health and Safety (minimum Certificate IV in H&S).
- Previous experience in the building and construction industry, with a strong understanding of HSE principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally and interstate as required.
- Construction White Card and Working with Children Check (preferred).
