Product Compliance Specialist

This key role is focused on ensuring all product lines managed by the Product Division comply with legislative and regulatory requirements.

The Product Compliance Specialist will assist in implementing changes mandated by regulatory or industry bodies, coordinating responses to changes in legislation or regulation, monitoring current and future regulatory changes to the product, and working closely with SMEs within the Product Division, project delivery and IT teams.

Ongoing support will be provided to other Divisions and the broader Product team to develop and implement strategies and solutions that meet the current and future needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitoring and analysing Australian insurance legislative and regulatory trends.
  • Providing updates for required implementation of improvements.
  • Working with Product SMEs to complete work pertaining to regulatory improvements.
  • Becoming an integral part of building a strong risk and data-driven culture in Product.
  • Assisting with management reporting packs and Board papers.
  • Ensuring processes are followed by all product streams to improve audit capability and easier implementation.
  • Collaborating with SMEs and business analysts to compile requirements for compliance-related changes.
  • Monitoring and reporting on projects and new product performance, assisting with post-implementation reviews.
Requirements
  • General Insurance product/portfolio management experience (minimum 3 years).
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. business administration, economics) and/or professional qualification preferred.
  • Experience with compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Knowledge of underwriting and rating methods, systems and procedures - including drivers of profitable growth.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory regimes and compliance legislation covering insurance - including regulatory change.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to independently solve problems with data.
  • Strong relationship and influencing skills, able to communicate with various stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
