About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned reliability expert to join our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams at Atlassian. As a Principal Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a critical role in scaling our Cloud services and driving reliability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

You will be responsible for developing high-level technical architectures, working with cross-functional teams to create a vision and roadmap for the organization, and promoting high-quality engineering standards. Additionally, you will support the growth of software engineers through technical mentorship and develop solutions that operate at scale.

We value expertise in prominent languages such as Java, Go, or Python, as well as experience in public cloud offerings and operating high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable, distributed software in production. Excellent communication skills and an ability to communicate complex technical issues to a range of technical and non-technical audiences are essential.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement technical architectures that meet business needs.
  2. Collaborate with Engineering Manager and fellow Principal Engineers to create a technical vision and roadmap.
  3. Promote high-quality engineering standards and support the growth of software engineers.
  4. Develop and implement solutions that operate at scale.
  5. Communicate complex technical issues to various audiences.
Requirements
  1. Expert-level proficiency in one or more prominent languages (Java, Go, or Python).
  2. Expert-level proficiency in public cloud offerings (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  3. Expert-level proficiency in operating high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable, distributed software in production.
  4. Excellent communication skills.
  5. Ability to mentor and coach engineers.
