Transforming Energy Futures

At AGL, we're redefining the energy landscape, and we're seeking a skilled Credit Specialist to join our team. As a key player in our Credit & Affordability business unit, you'll be responsible for managing complex issues and escalations related to customer indebtedness. Your expertise will help us minimize overdue accounts, prevent bad debts, and maintain optimal customer experience.

About the Role

We have two exciting positions available for Credit Specialists, and we're looking for individuals with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of credit management processes, and the ability to navigate complex legal proceedings. As a Credit Specialist, you'll work closely with our Collections Experience team to identify opportunities to resolve customer indebtedness upstream and improve customer engagement in the collections lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex issues and escalations related to customer indebtedness, including sensitive situations.
  • Complete complex reconciliations across customers, reviewing account and interaction history to determine the best approach to address customer debt.
  • Proactively collate and present escalation themes, working with key stakeholders to develop resolutions, strategic processes, and policies to address and mitigate future instances.
  • Maximize cash flow and minimize current and future bad debt exposure from the portfolio.
  • Be the initial point of contact and escalation for credit officers within the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with external lawyers to prepare and execute litigation proceedings, providing necessary documentation and insights while managing ROI on cost.

What You'll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex issues and escalations at an individual level and rolling out learnings to peers.
  • Proven assertiveness and negotiation skills.
  • Sound conflict resolution skills with the ability to elicit commercial outcomes even when dealing with customer disputes.
  • Proven experience working with legal teams on debt recovery and litigation processes, goal-oriented, and thriving on meeting and exceeding targets.
  • Excellent analytical and financial data interpretation skills, particularly in assessing risks related to high-value, high-risk customer cohorts.

What We Offer

  • Flexible working options, including hybrid work.
  • Discounts on energy, telcos, and solar plans.
  • Participation in Energise, our reward and recognition program.
  • Access to 20 weeks of paid parental leave for the primary carer.
  • Access to an additional week of recharge leave per year.
  • Active role in our diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Novated leasing and Electric Vehicle subscriptions.
  • Access to study assistance, AGL's share purchase plan, and insurance deals.
