Key Role in Grid Connection Process

The primary function of the Grid Connection Manager is to oversee the entire grid connection process, acting as the key point of contact for liaison with AEMO, Network Service Providers, OEMs, and external consultants.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and manage approvals from development through to commissioning
  • Support the broader business across a range of projects in development, construction, and existing operating sites
  • Attend strategic planning meetings with client stakeholders to streamline grid connection processes
  • Provide technical input regarding potential project acquisitions, tenders, and contractual specifications
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with AEMO, NSPs and NER
  • Lead the commercial aspects of network connection process including negotiation of connection agreements with NSPs
  • Develop networks with key stakeholders pertaining to grid connection approvals with AEMO and NSPs and other partners
  • Support project teams throughout the commissioning phase including managing external contract engineering for grid connection issues
  • Provide technical support regarding identification and development of new sites
  • Manage grid requirements into relevant engineering, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance contracts for renewable energy and storage plants

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role working for a developer or power plant/operator
  • Career stability with no more than two jobs in the past five years
  • Relevant degree education
  • Proven experience negotiating grid connections
  • Strong communicator who able to forge relationships with stakeholders and consultants
  • An expert understanding of the National Electricity Rules
  • Highly developed experience with grid connections and electrical design
