About the Role

Mater Misericordiae Ltd is seeking an experienced Expert Clinical Coder to join our Clinical Coding Services team on a permanent full-time basis.

This role will involve coding across all Mater facilities and is based at our South Brisbane Campus. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work with a leading healthcare provider that offers state-of-the-art facilities and resources to advance your career.

Salary Range: $61,900 - $69,100 per annum (based on 38 hours/week) plus 11.5% superannuation.

Job Description:

  • Assign specific morbidity and procedural classification to patient episodes to meet data reporting requirements.
  • Code inpatient episodes in accordance with Australian Coding Standards.
  • Meet standards of coding accuracy and awareness of DRG assignment and its impact on potential funding.
  • Identify unclear or ambiguous documentation and initiate coding queries.
  • Participate in coding audits, quality, and education to expand coding skills.
  • Apply principles of confidentiality, privacy, and security in the medical environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • HIMAA Introductory/Intermediate Clinical Coding Course/Certificate IV in Clinical Classification (or equivalent).
  • Up-to-date clinical coding knowledge using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS.
  • Experience using 3M Encoder.
  • Strong organisational skills in planning, prioritising, and managing workloads.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Understanding of private sector funding models (desirable).
  • Experience using Webpas, iPM, and scanned medical records (desirable).
