Personal Care Attendant Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Personal Care Attendant to provide full-time care for a client with Unresponsive Wakefulness Syndrome (vegetative state). This role requires dedicated support and personal care, with the ability to adapt to the client's changing needs.

  • Provide full assistance with bathing, grooming, and dressing to maintain cleanliness and comfort.
  • Ensure proper oral hygiene, including brushing teeth or mouth care as needed.
  • Manual handling assistance assist with turning, repositioning, and transferring the client to prevent pressure sores and maintain comfort.
  • Support safe movement, including using appropriate equipment for transfers (e.g., hoist, wheelchair).
  • Ensure the client's safety at all times, particularly in bed or when being moved.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Confidence in high level personal care requirements.
  • Previous experience in aged care, disability, or home & community care.
  • Qualification in Aged Care/Disability/Individual Support/Nursing.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
  • Current First Aid & CPR certificates.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
