Role Overview

We're seeking a skilled and compassionate Disability Advocacy Professional to join our team as a Community Change Leader. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Your Responsibilities

As a Community Change Leader, your primary focus will be on providing person-centered support and planning for individuals with disabilities. You'll work closely with participants, their families, and support teams to develop effective strategies for achieving their goals.

  • Conduct initial assessments using evidence-based tools to identify participant needs and preferences.
  • Liaise with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate support services and ensure seamless delivery.
  • Support participants in their everyday environments, fostering independence and autonomy.
  • Collaborate with support teams to enhance their capacity and provide capable environments for participants.
  • Participate in peer group supervision, mentoring, and professional learning to grow expertise and skills.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor or Master's degree in Disability (or equivalent) and eligibility to join the DEAI.
  • Ability to submit a suitability assessment and be deemed a Behaviour Support Practitioner by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
  • Strong advocacy for removing barriers using the social model of therapy.
  • Empathy, understanding, and an open, non-judgmental approach.
  • Drive to see high-impact outcomes in people's lives.
  • Capacity to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children's Check.
  • A valid driver's license.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $83,582 - $100,342, including annual leave loading and superannuation. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities, while enjoying a range of benefits and perks.
