Empowering Lives: Pakenham Developmental Educator

We are seeking a highly skilled Developmental Educator to join our interdisciplinary team at Everyday Independence in Pakenham.
The successful candidate will be passionate about empowering individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling lives, and possess a strong advocacy for removing barriers using the social model of therapy.
This is an ongoing full-time or part-time (minimum 4 days per week) opportunity offering a competitive salary package, including annual leave loading and superannuation.
Salary: $83,582 - $100,342
Job Description:
In this role, you will provide person-centered support and planning for people with disabilities, their families, and support teams. You will build strong relationships to help them envision a life full of positive experiences and opportunities for people of all ages.
You will work alongside participants and their key supports to develop new skills and habits, problem-solve challenges that prevent participants from living fulfilled lives, and champion the role of a social model practitioner by helping people overcome barriers that keep them from engaging with their local community and the wider world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial assessments using evidence-based tools
- Liaise with the interdisciplinary team to wrap the right supports around the participant and their family
- Support people in their everyday environment – home, work, school, or community
- Capacity building of their support team to provide a capable environment
- Attend peer group supervision/mentoring and professional learning to grow expertise and skills
- Participate in weekly team meetings and share stories of impact
Requirements:
- Bachelor or Master's degree in Disability (or equivalent)
- Eligibility to be a member of the DEAI
- Suitability assessment and Behaviour Support Practitioner status (if required)
- Strong advocacy for removing barriers using the social model of therapy
- Empathy and understanding, with an open and non-judgmental approach
- Ability to obtain NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children's Check
- Valid driver's license
