
Academic Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement individualized learning plans (ICPs) and teaching, learning and assessment plans (TLAPs), ensuring hands-on support during planning days.
- Design accessible assessments for year 7-10 students, endorsed by the curriculum head of department for alignment.
- Compile ICP resources and work with course coordinators to store them in a central location, integrating them into master TLAPs/curriculum cloud.
- Seek parent input and approval, as required, for ICPs and TLAPs, in partnership with relevant colleagues.
- Track student achievement and progression of learning on a continuum.
- Develop a 'Students on an ICP' class dashboard in OneSchool, documenting student anecdotal notes from classroom visits as evidence of support.
- Provide support to teachers to write an ICP using OneSchool, to be endorsed by the head of inclusion.
- Mentor, co-teach, collaborate with and provide hands-on support for teachers to implement differentiation strategies.
- Work with course coordinators to enhance accessibility of assessment items for all students.
- Facilitate professional development on differentiation as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A relevant teaching qualification.
- Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland.
- Pre-service/graduate teachers must have been granted provisional registration prior to commencing employment as a teacher.
- In addition to registration, teachers working in education and care services (including state-delivered kindergarten programs) require an exemption card issued by Blue Card Services.
