About the Opportunity

The Environmental Jobs Network is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Principal to lead our Closure and Legacy Mines (CALM) project. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the development of strong foundations for good governance, clear strategy, and a strong voice for our constituents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Closure and Legacy Mines (CALM) project, ensuring effective management of mine closure and legacy mining projects, including rehabilitation and rejuvenation projects, sign-off, and relinquishment by mining companies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Traditional Owners, Executive Council, and other external organizations.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on environmental assessment and environmental impact studies, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Resources and Energy Branch Manager to inform, advise, and advocate on behalf of the Environmental Jobs Network, our Traditional Owners, and our Executive Council.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or relevant equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' industry-relevant experience working in the environmental management of mine closure, demonstrating knowledge of the mining industry, associated legislation, and assessment of environmental impacts.
  • Understanding of the Aboriginal Land Rights (NT) Act 1976 and other legislation relevant to the land interests of traditional owners and Aboriginal communities.
  • High-level cross-cultural, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise, engage, and coordinate across an array of stakeholders.
