We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President, Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at MUFG Americas. As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and guidance to our business units in Oceania.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a robust legal risk management framework to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide trusted and relevant advice to human resources, compliance, and financial crime prevention functions in Oceania.
  • Control legal risk by providing timely guidance to business units in handling disputes and pre-dispute actions.
  • Be an independent guardian and trusted business partner by providing commercially sensitive, pragmatic, and practical legal support and advice.
  • Collaborate closely with Legal Office for Asia, Head Office Legal in Tokyo, and other local legal units within the branches and subsidiaries of MUFG.
Requirements
  • Minimum 6-8 years of post-qualification work experience in a common law jurisdiction.
  • Prior experience in regulatory compliance, HR, litigation, and legal risk management.
  • Broad experience across banking and lending, wholesale/investment banking products, and capital markets.
  • Strong technical knowledge of legal framework surrounding finance transactions and strong document drafting skills.
  • Good knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to finance and banking.
  • Self-motivated and independent with excellent interpersonal skills.
