Health and Safety Specialist

Persolkelly is partnering with a global leader in water management to find a skilled Health and Safety Coordinator to join their expanding team.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all safety activities and programs within the organization, ensuring a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement safety programs to reduce accidents and injuries and minimize workers' compensation costs.
- Identify potential safety hazards across all facilities, report these hazards, and provide recommendations for their elimination or reduction to management.
- Investigate all accidents and injuries, recommend corrective actions, and coordinate their implementation.
- Develop, communicate, and enforce safety policies and procedures in line with local, state, and federal WHS regulations.
- Manage coordination with external suppliers to meet fire safety and employee safety legislative requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state WHS regulations, safety codes, and standards; distribute or post new safety standards affecting the company.
- Establish and document quarterly training programs for employees and supervisors; conduct and document new employee safety training and orientation.
- Conduct and document safety meetings to address safety issues related to employees, vehicles, property, and public liability.
- Work with other departments to ensure new equipment, facilities, and work methods comply with safety policies and regulations.
- Maintain ISO 9001 accreditation, recommend improvements to the Quality system, communicate and train staff on the Quality system, and manage documentation and audits related to quality control.
- Tertiary qualifications in a safety-related discipline or significant experience in quality systems and process manufacturing.
- Proficiency in ISO 9001:2015 and familiarity with quality management principles.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for effective interaction and information presentation.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities to manage priorities and workflow efficiently.
- Understanding of safety requirements, WHS Act 2011, and experience in safety training and emergency response.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work effectively with diverse individuals, and demonstrate good judgment in decision-making.
