Design Services Coordinator Job Opportunity

This is a permanent full-time position within the Design Services Division.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and recommendations on civil design, traffic, transport, and road safety issues.

  • Eligible for membership with professional engineering associations.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Highly developed report writing, team leading, and communication skills.
  • Ability to represent Council capably to developers, consultants, government agencies, and the public.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, able to demonstrate commitment to teamwork, and provide quality customer service.

A working knowledge of local government, project management, and relevant engineering policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and practices is highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing advice and making recommendations on civil design, traffic, transport, and road safety issues.
  • Preparing concise and accurate reports, as well as grant submissions.
  • Leading teams and dealing effectively with people at all levels.
  • Representing Council to developers, consultants, government agencies, and the public.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Eligible for membership with professional engineering associations.
  • Highly developed written, communication, and research skills.
  • Ability to use specialized software packages and interpret results.

The following qualifications and experience are considered advantageous for this role: proven track record of Project Management and Civil Design experience, preferably gained in large, complex work environments, experience in local government engineering/design environment, and membership (or eligibility for membership) with professional engineering associations.
