About the Role

The Specialist Indigenous Support Liaison will work closely with leaders and employees to improve the experience of Indigenous-identified employees at our operations in Queensland.

The successful candidate will provide personalized support and coaching to Indigenous employees, advocate for Indigenous perspectives and cultural capability, and champion the application of our Indigenous Cultural Safety Framework.

The role will also involve working with leaders and employees on Indigenous social, cultural, and recognition matters, and partnering with Indigenous Engagement to facilitate engagement with local communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personalized support and coaching to Indigenous employees
  • Advocate for Indigenous perspectives and cultural capability
  • Champion the application of the BHP Indigenous Cultural Safety Framework
  • Work with leaders and employees on Indigenous social, cultural, and recognition matters
  • Partner with Indigenous Engagement to facilitate engagement with local communities
Requirements
  • Experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders, including Indigenous peoples
  • Understanding of and experience in the mining sector and BHP's operating environment
  • Relevant vocational, TAFE, or university qualifications (e.g. HR/ER, healthcare, community development)
  • Previous experience in a similar role in case management, advocacy, community development, or human services
