H&P Australia, a subsidiary of Helmerich & Payne, Inc., offers a unique opportunity for a skilled Derrickhand to join our team in the Beetaloo Basin (0852) drilling project.

As a key member of our drilling operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our mud system and associated equipment. This includes performing manual labor tasks, demonstrating core values and safety standards, welcoming and mentoring new team members, and overseeing the condition and analysis of drilling fluid.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the mud system and associated equipment
  • Demonstrating core values and safety standards
  • Mentoring new team members
  • Overseeing the condition and analysis of drilling fluid
  • Maintaining pit fluid levels, transferring fluids, and monitoring flow output
  • Directing roughnecks and roustabouts during repairs and maintenance
  • Reporting changes in drilling fluid status
  • Providing inventory of necessary chemicals and fluids
  • Monitoring pumping equipment and solids removal systems
  • Performing daily, weekly, and monthly services on overhead equipment

You will work closely with our team to optimize drilling performance, mitigate tool damage, and prevent failures. We seek an experienced individual with a strong understanding of rig well control equipment, ability to function any aspect of equipment, and operate the rig and systems from the control panel to maximize efficiency. A flexible and adaptable approach to solving problems is essential, as is the ability to effectively communicate and work in indigenous environments.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong understanding of local, territory, state, and federal statutory obligations

This is a 21 x 21 rotation position with opportunities for growth and professional development. The salary range for this position is AUD $109,500 - $133,225 per annum.
