Job Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned Health and Safety Specialist to spearhead the development, implementation, and oversight of health and safety systems and policies across our organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate and oversee WHS strategies and plans at multiple sites.
  • Review and update WHS systems, policies, and procedures to mitigate potential risks.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify and prevent hazards in the work environment.
  • Investigate incidents of non-compliance and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Counsel management and foster a strong safety culture within the organisation.
  • Engage staff and promote effective WHS practices through regular communication and training.
  • Design and deliver targeted WHS training programs based on organisational needs.
  • Manage injury and workers' compensation claims with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor and review incident trends to inform preventive WHS initiatives.
  • Nurture partnerships with external WHS organisations to stay abreast of best practices.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in Work Health and Safety (e.g., Degree or Diploma in WHS).
  • Thorough knowledge of WHS legislation, industry standards, and risk management principles.
  • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in a health and safety role, preferably in the healthcare sector, with exposure to risk and incident management.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective safety systems that promote workplace health and safety while supporting business objectives.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to identify and address unsafe work conditions.
  • Strong organisational skills for managing documentation related to compliance and WHS initiatives.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and WHS reporting systems.
