Health and Safety Expert

The Role:

  • Provide professional health and safety support to various divisions and regions as required.
  • Support supervisors and managers in providing technical advice to facilitate continuous improvement opportunities in health and safety activities and events.
  • Assist with and coordinate health and safety related audits and certification processes where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate incident investigations, report production, and ensure the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Review pre-employment assessments, recommend employment suitability to hiring managers and HR.
  • Coordinate and assist in developing company-specific training programs, including toolbox meeting topics based on training gaps analysis and business operational requirements.
  • Manage contractor management systems within regions.
  • Conduct site inspections independently and with operational staff to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety or a recognized qualification in a similar field (Certificate IV or higher).
  • At least 3 to 5 years' experience working in Health and Safety as an Advisor.
  • Training in Return to Work and Rehabilitation, ICAM, and relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating health and safety projects and activities in a similar role.
  • High standard of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical skills in reviewing activities and identifying key actions for improvement.
  • Ability to develop and foster a proactive safety culture.
