About the Role

The NSW Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Unit Manager to lead the Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit at Coffs Harbour Health Campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patient services in relation to all aspects of care delivery in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Manage the unit, including monitoring goods and services, equipment, maintenance, and expenditure.
  • Lead and manage staff, including direction, coordination, and supervision.
  • Foster an atmosphere conducive to open communication, problem solving, and team building.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement within the ward/unit.
  • Ensure the human, physical, and financial resources of the ward/unit are managed to deliver safe and efficient healthcare within available resources.
  • Lead a nursing team within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote the recovery model and lead with resilience.
  • Deliver and oversee a variety of group and individual interventions to facilitate skills development, psychological understanding, social engagement, and capacity building in clients affected by mental illness.
  • Utilize strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills relevant to the role responsibilities.
  • Apply computer literacy and ability to use a variety of computer applications.

Requirements:

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Proven operational and clinical management knowledge and skills in a relevant setting.
  • Proven ability to ensure the human, physical, and financial resources of the ward/unit are managed to deliver safe and efficient healthcare within available resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to function within and lead a nursing team within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Advanced understanding of the stages of mental illness.
