About the role

We are seeking a Nurse Unit Manager to lead our nursing team in the Cairns region.

We encourage experienced Registered Nurses to apply, as this is an opportunity to further develop skills in the nursing discipline and progress their nursing career. The Nurse Unit Manager will demonstrate 2 years minimum radiology experience and at least 7 years’ experience as an Registered Nurse. The Nurse Unit Manager may be required to be assist at other practices within the North Queensland region as required.

The Nurse Unit Manager should be able to demonstrate advanced clinical skills in Cannulation and have knowledge in Computed Tomography, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Fluoroscopy, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Interventional Radiology, coaching/mentoring of new staff and actively engaging in continuous professional development. The Nurse Unit Manager will also undertake portfolio projects, working in partnership with the Nurse Operations Manager to cultivate a safe and quality workplace.
  
About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Nursing
  • Full AHPRA Registration with no imposed conditions or limitations
  • Demonstrate sound judgement and maturity
  • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse 
  • Coordinate and promote patient safety and safe quality nursing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines under pressure within tight timeframes
  • Sharp attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated understanding of professional nursing competency standards, code of practice and professional nursing trends  
  • Friendly, caring and compassionate nature with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Resilience and the ability to influence outcomes
