Senior Planning Specialist

As a Senior Planning Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and working independently to deliver high-quality results.

This role is a permanent position in our NSW Planning team, based in either Wollongong or Sydney offices. The successful candidate will contribute to business growth by providing expert planning and resource management advice across both statutory and strategic planning domains.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading project coordination to ensure project outputs meet or exceed agreed goals.
  • Developing project plans and strategies for major projects, including identification of business resource requirements.
  • Managing the preparation of strategies, reports, environmental impact assessments, and other planning documentation and submissions on behalf of clients.
  • Undertaking technical reviews of documentation prepared by the planning team to ensure that documentation and service levels meet client expectations.
  • Preparing tender documentation and fostering strong client relationships.
  • Mentoring junior staff and promoting a culture of professional development.

Requirements for this role include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or Architecture/Urban Design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High proficiency in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Extensive experience in statutory or strategic planning, preferably within NSW.
  • Self-motivation and self-direction.
  • Interest in working on diverse projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with the team, managers, and clients.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and innovation.
