We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fish Ecologist to join our team in a challenging 12-month fixed-term position.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to fish and fish-habitat monitoring, evaluation and reporting.

  • You will be working closely with our team to undertake field work, four-wheel driving, hiking, conducting fish surveys, data management and report writing.

To be considered for this position, you will need to have a science degree and relevant work experience with a focus on fish ecology. You should be able to identify freshwater and estuarine fish species and participate in conservation and ecology surveys and projects in the field and office.

In addition, you will be contributing to advice, reports, scientific articles, conference presentations, and other communication outputs. A postgraduate qualification in science or natural resource management with a focus on fish ecology is desirable.

This fixed-term position is available for a period of 12 months and will be based at Heidelberg with hybrid work arrangements available.

Key Requirements:

A science degree and relevant work experience with a focus on Fish Ecology.

Excellent knowledge of freshwater and estuarine fish species and the ability to identify them.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and provide recommendations.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to produce high-quality written reports and presentations.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
