Fish Ecologist Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fish Ecologist to contribute to the delivery of quality research and conservation efforts in river and wetland ecology.

  • Collaborate with scientists and natural resource managers to understand and protect Victoria's aquatic ecosystems.
  • Undertake field work, fish surveys, data management, and report writing to contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary research teams and contribute to advice, reports, scientific articles, conference presentations, and other communication outputs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Field work, including four-wheel driving, hiking, and conducting fish surveys.
  • Data management and report writing.
  • Contributing to fish and fish-habitat monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as fisheries science or a related discipline.
  • High level of competency in freshwater and estuarine fish identification and survey techniques.
  • Able to participate in, support, and plan and manage conservation and ecology surveys and projects in the field and office.
