About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge algorithms and fused sensor systems for mining and aerospace applications. This role will involve utilising computer vision technologies, such as photogrammetry, LiDAR, time-of-flight, radar, accelerometers, and other sensing modalities, to develop multi-sensor monitoring systems.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging problems in the field of 3D vision and contribute to the development of novel sensing system technologies. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including the 3D Vision Laboratory.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop cutting-edge algorithms and fused sensor systems for mining and aerospace applications.
- Utilise computer vision technologies, such as photogrammetry, LiDAR, time-of-flight, radar, accelerometers, and other sensing modalities, to develop multi-sensor monitoring systems.
- Contribute to the development of novel sensing system technologies.
- A PhD (or an equivalent combination of qualifications and research experience) in a relevant field such as physics, mathematics, computer science, with experience in computer vision.
- A demonstrated publication history of authorship on scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and/or reports, grant applications or inventorship on patent applications.
- At least several years' experience in prototyping, designing, testing, and documenting algorithms in computer vision applications.
Prior knowledge or proven experience of specific technical skills, such as expertise in development and deployment of photogrammetric, computer vision, LiDAR, time-of-flight, radar, accelerometers, photogrammetry systems (software and hardware) in industrial settings, would be desirable.
