Job Overview

The role of a legal counsel involves providing expert advice to support business objectives.

  • Provide specialist and tailored legal advice to align with the company's strategic goals.
  • Review and advise on proposed transactions, negotiating as required for various commercial matters in technology and distribution.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders to offer commercially sound advice, minimizing legal risk.

This position spans multiple legal practice areas, including financial services and corporate/commercial tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing specialist and tailored legal advice to support business objectives.
  • Reviewing and advising on proposed transactions, negotiating as required for various commercial matters in technology and distribution.
  • Developing strong relationships with internal stakeholders to offer commercially sound advice, minimizing legal risk.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years post-administration experience
  • General corporate and commercial matters experience providing legal advice to internal teams on contractual and other legal risk matters.
  • Strong experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial contracts, including technology agreements, consulting agreements, supplier service agreements, and NDAs.
  • Financial Services Laws experience favorable (including Insurance Contracts Act and Chapter 7 Corporations Act).
  • Drafting, reviewing, and advising on legal and regulatory matters, including policies and procedures.
  • Negotiation skills, strong commercial acumen, and stakeholder management.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Postgraduate degree in law or related field.
  • Professional certification, such as a Solicitor or Barrister license.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
