Senior Corporate Lawyer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Corporate Lawyer to join our team.

The successful candidate will provide corporate, commercial and financial services legal advice and governance advice to all of Avant's businesses.

  • Undertake review of marketing material to ensure legal compliance
  • Provide corporate legal, commercial and governance advice to all of Avant's businesses
  • Contract drafting, review and negotiation
  • Insurance product advice and documentation
  • Statutory interpretation and advice on legislative reform impacting Avant's business
  • Litigation support for corporate litigation
  • Legal Advice on complaints and potential disputes, including at AFCA
  • Staff legal training
  • Support senior Lawyers, the General Counsel & Office of the CEO

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications (LLB or equivalent)
  • Current NSW (or other Australian State) Legal Practitioner Practising Certificate – mandatory
  • Minimum 3 years' post qualification experience in a mid or top-tier firm
  • Experience in providing commercial legal advice
  • Previous experience working in an insurance and/or Australian financial services environment (beneficial)
  • A pragmatic and commercial focus (including understanding of the commercial environment of the general insurance market)
  • Highly developed stakeholder and people management skills
  • High level of written and spoken language skills
  • Understanding of the commercial environment of the general insurance market
