Job Title: Victim Support Specialist
This role involves providing professional support and guidance to victims of crime in restorative processes across Melbourne and Regional Victoria.
Key responsibilities include:
- Offering expert advice and assistance to victims during selected restorative processes.
- Fostering positive working relationships with stakeholders to secure optimal outcomes for victims and the community.
- Collaborating with key organizations to deliver specialized training programs on victim support and youth justice for stakeholders, including YJGC providers, the Victims of Crime (VOC) Helpline, Victoria Police, and Victims Assistance Program (VAP) agencies.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, experience working with victim survivors, and extensive knowledge of restorative processes, the Victorian criminal justice and youth justice systems, and the Victorian victim service system and associated legislation.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A deep understanding of trauma-informed practice and its application in supporting victim survivors.
- Experience working with victim survivors, particularly in restorative processes.
- Extensive knowledge of restorative processes, the Victorian criminal justice and youth justice systems, and the Victorian victim service system and associated legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
- A proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a strong commitment to securing positive outcomes for victims and the community.
