About the Role
The Care Services Assistant (Kitchen Hand) is a pivotal frontline carer position with a particular focus on nutrition and dining, supporting residents to live a life of fulfilment through the delivery of person-centred care and support according to needs and preferences of each resident in everyday practice. This role involves assisting in the preparation, delivery, presentation and serving of resident meals.
  • Ensuring meal choices and individual nutrition meet the requirements of each resident.
  • Considering allergies and food intolerances to maintain a safe environment for all residents.
  • Enhancing the overall dining experience by creating a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Assisting residents with meal selection and meal timing preferences to promote independence.
  • Preparing and setting up dining areas to meet individual needs and preferences.
  • Actively engaging with residents to provide social and emotional support during mealtimes.
  • Fostering a positive dining experience through empathy and kindness.
  • Promoting resident choice and control to uphold dignity and respect.
  • Maintaining accurate nutrition and diet information as required.
  • Assisting with quality food preparation in accordance with the Food Safety Plan, ensuring the highest standards are met.
  • Maintaining kitchen stock supplies as required to ensure efficient service delivery.

  • Previous hospitality and/or commercial kitchen experience, with a strong understanding of food safety practices.
  • A willingness to take direction from others and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Reliability and flexibility to meet the demands of a fast-paced environment.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Valid working rights in Australia.
  • Current COVID & Annual Flu Vaccination.
