We are seeking a highly skilled Professional Mandarin and Cantonese Interpreter to join our team at Eastern Health.
About the Role
The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing essential interpreting services for staff, patients, and their families. This position involves managing interpreter bookings efficiently and professionally, ensuring that Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) patients fully understand their healthcare information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage interpreter bookings efficiently and professionally
- Ensure CALD patients understand their healthcare information
- Educate and collaborate with hospital staff to enhance their use of interpreting services
- Coordinate both internal and external interpreter bookings
- Maintain accurate records of service occasions and report these to the Director of Language Services
- Engage in regular reviews of service provision and development through supervision and the Achieve Framework
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A NAATI Certified Interpreter certification
- Tertiary qualifications
- Ability to speak Mandarin and Cantonese
- Experience working as an interpreter in a healthcare environment
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to organise and prioritise work
- Ability to work as a team and with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to a changing environment
- A current drivers' licence
Desirable Qualifications
- Computer skills - Microsoft 365
- Experience using the Healthdirect telehealth/video call platform
Salary and Benefits
