About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to join our team as the Director of Workplace Safety and Security. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and leadership in the areas of workplace safety, security, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic workplace safety expertise to support corporate departments, restaurants, licensees, and suppliers.
  • Review high-level critical incident investigations and provide recommendations to support incident outcomes and system-wide solutions.
  • Identify workplace safety risks and continually partner with the business to evolve risk management strategies.
  • Direct the Safety department's key strategic activities and provide guidance to support the achievement of these initiatives.
  • Oversee WHS/OHS performance reports and WHS/OHS audit programs.
  • Review workplace safety policies and procedures, training materials, and tools to ensure compliance and currency.
  • Represent workplace safety and the organization at senior forums internally and externally.
  • Consult with relevant stakeholders when making changes to workplace safety systems and processes in accordance with McDonald's policy.
  • Champion cross-functional teams to navigate workplace safety initiatives where relevant.
  • Proactively review and provide recommendations to the business on workplace safety legislation, relevant standards, codes, and industry practices.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in the workplace safety field and a strong understanding of respective legislation.
  • Purposeful leadership style with the ability to maintain a high-performing team and develop talent.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and ability to drive processes forward.
  • Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to build rapport easily.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to influence and engage an audience.
  • Skilled negotiator and sound decision-making ability.
  • Well networked, regularly attending OH&S forums and have close connections within the workplace safety field.
