General Manager Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and ambitious General Manager to lead our wine business in Sydney. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for enhancing guests' drinking experiences by providing expert guidance on wine selection, ensuring impeccable service, and contributing to the overall success of our venue.

About the Role

  • Coordinate and oversee the operation of in-store retail and online e-commerce store operations.
  • Develop new business strategies with department heads.
  • Manage day-to-day finances of bottleshop, wine bar, and e-commerce site.
  • Provide attentive and professional wine service to guests, including presenting, pouring, and describing wines accurately and eloquently.
  • Engage with guests to understand their preferences and make tailored wine recommendations based on tastes and menu selections.
  • Maintain wine cellar and inventory, ensuring proper storage, organisation, and rotation of wines.
  • Identify current and new wine trends and implement them in store.
  • Participate in ongoing wine education and training sessions to refine wine knowledge and service skills.

Key Requirements

  • A proven history of managing all areas of a bottleshop for at least 2 years.
  • Full understanding of stocktaking systems and reporting.
  • Genuine passion for wine and desire to pursue a career in the wine industry.
  • Basic knowledge of wine varietals, regions, and production methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Well-versed in venue compliance, including RSA management and licensing.
