Indigenous News and Current Affairs Journalist

This role sees you working within our Indigenous News and Current Affairs (INACA) team, producing original and engaging cross platform content for daily television and digital news platforms.

  • Plan, research, write, edit and produce high quality news, interviews and feature stories across linear and digital platforms.
  • Generate, develop and pitch ideas for original content, which centre and elevate First Nations voices and perspectives.
  • Build and maintain strong networks within Indigenous communities and organisations across the country.

About You We are looking for a creative storyteller with strong research skills who is passionate about elevating and amplifying the voices of First Nations people and communities. You will have advanced communication skills and proven experience in journalism and/or media broadcasting, including production and presentation of original, multi-platform news and current affairs content.

You'll have a deep understanding of Indigenous Cultural Protocol and the ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Working as part of a small team, you'll have a positive attitude with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict broadcast deadlines. Reporting on Indigenous issues across Australia, you'll be willing to travel for breaking news coverage and significant events.
