At the forefront of quantum computing, our team is dedicated to creating a real quantum computer.

We are on a mission to build the first practical and useful quantum computers, capable of delivering world-changing applications that this technology has long promised. This means we will need to construct a system with roughly 1 million qubits that supports fault-tolerant error correction within a scalable architecture.

This onsite role in Brisbane, Australia, will support our experimental efforts and development within the laboratory. You will collaborate closely with measurement, design, and operations teams in Brisbane and across all technical disciplines.

We seek an individual with a broad range of practical skills and experience across some/all of our technology areas including cryogenics, vacuum, electrical, electronics, controls, optics, and mechanical. There will be opportunities to upskill in areas where candidates have less experience.

You will oversee the installation and maintenance of complex subsystems, assemble and maintain cryogenic setups, perform quality control checks, and develop best practice procedures. Additionally, you will supervise interns/apprentices and contractors, plan maintenance and upgrades of core test equipment, and operate high-end lab equipment.

The ideal candidate will possess at least 5 years' practical experience in a similar role within a scientific or advanced engineering environment. Experience working within multidisciplinary teams, building and operating cryogenic equipment, and good understanding of RF best practice and signal cabling are essential. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and exceptional organizational skills are also required.
