Cryogenic Engineering Specialist

Job Description:

PsiQuantum is opening a new laboratory in Brisbane, Australia to focus on the validation and high-performance operation of quantum photonic systems. We are seeking an experienced Cryogenic Engineering Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the installation and maintenance of complex cryogenic equipment and subsystems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the installation and maintenance of cryogenic equipment and subsystems
  • Support testing and characterization of RF components at cryogenic temperatures
  • Assemble and maintain cryogenic setups including cryostats, vacuum pumps, and control equipment
  • Electro-optic experiment assembly, including into cryostats
  • Quality Control checks and data logging
  • Develop and execute best practice procedures
  • Fault finding, repair and maintenance in lab hardware
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role within a scientific or advanced engineering environment
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience building and operating cryogenic equipment
  • Vacuum equipment assembly and test
  • Good understanding of rf best practice and rf signal cabling
  • Experience operating test equipment manually and via control software
