About the Role
South West Healthcare's Ngootyoong Prevention and Recovery Centre provides comprehensive clinical recovery support and care to regional consumers in collaboration with non-clinical partners, ermha365. The centre offers a psychosocial recovery program for individuals with or at risk of developing serious mental illness.
The available position of Peer Support/Lived Experience Worker provides active support and requires an understanding of the needs of consumers derived primarily from their own lived experience. This complements the professional knowledge and skills of clinical staff.
Ngootyoong PARC is a supported recovery-oriented mental health residential facility that provides an option for people who are becoming unwell or who are in the early stages of their recovery. It offers short-term (up to 28 days) or medium-term (less than 6 months) intensive treatment to strengthen biological, psychological and social well-being. Day program places are also offered to support individual recovery.
The position provides peer support to consumers and their families, and is involved in their treatment and recovery planning. Additionally, it participates in providing education to consumers, family members, carers and staff.
